Today I took Maya to see Dr. Gerow, the orthopedic doctor that will monitor her bone structure and help Maya avoid/delay scoliosis as much as possible. This was a very short visit as Maya is in good condition on this front.
On a personal note though, the doctor lacked any sort of compassion and spoke to me as if I wasn't educated enough to know what SMA is. He was like "well, you can't do much for these kids and physical therapy won't help her". I was shocked, but I guess that is his view of SMA and I know my view and choose to stick with mine! He was referred by Maya's pediatrician and as long as he is a good doctor and gets the job done, I guess we can't complain too much.
