Pregnancy Update - 28 weeks

I am almost 28 weeks now and in my third trimester. Everyone keeps saying that if we didn't go through IVF they would swear that my due date is wrong! I look like I've gained about 30 pounds already, but as of last visit it was 13 pounds. In due time...the pounds will come as they did when I was pregnant with Maya. At 28 weeks with Maya I had gained 10 pounds so I am surprisingly about the same right now.  So the really scary part started early this week. After the trip to Dallas I realized that I couldn't go on my own with Maya anymore. I had so much help when I was there yet the travel still got me so tired and achey. Monday I started to get nauseous and felt fatigued after standing for even half an hour. As the week went on, it was about the same story. I could barely take Maya on a stroller ride the other night. I am just so front heavy and it is putting a lot of pressure on my lower back, which in turn is making me have tightness and maybe even contractions! I have 2 1/2 months to go!! What am I going to do?  I was telling Charlie that I bet I'll go on bed rest before long. My due date is correct as I mentioned so I don't want to take any chances on the baby coming too early - we need a healthy baby with mature lungs!! I'm going to have to start wearing one of those belly support things. And next visit, I'm going to ask for an ultrasound to measure the baby. If its going to be a 9 pounder I need to get prepared! I was going to post a picture but I was just looking and there aren't any of me! I'll work on that for the next month.

Big Girl Bed

When Maya and I got home from Dallas today, we came home to a nice surprise. Maya's big girl bed was all made up and ready for the princess to sleep in it! Charlie converted Maya's crib to her full size bed over the weekend. Video isn't posting below, so I put it on our photo site here.

Charlie gets a gold star for all the work he did while we were gone. He asked me to put together a to-do list for him and he got to all of it plus more! I came home and all the furniture in the baby's room was moved (ready to paint now!), he moved my glider to our bedroom so I can rock the baby downstairs, and all sorts of other little things around the house. We can cross lots off the projects list finally!

Mommy and Maya trip (#3?)

Maya and I took another loner trip this past weekend. This time we headed to Dallas. We had a couple trips last summer to Dallas and Austin, so I thought I could easily handle another one. Right and wrong. Its not that Maya didn't do well, it was me. I've learned my lesson now - don't go anywhere by yourself when you are pregnant and have a 2 year old! But, Charlie is busy at work during the summer and we can't just stay at home every weekend!

We made a stop in Corsicana to have lunch with Nanny and Papaw before we headed to the Keith's house. Maya was taking a nice nap when mommy got pulled over for speeding. I was actually cool about it. Usually my heart races and I just get all worked up. This time, I was calm and relaxed. I hadn't been stopped in a very long time. I asked for a warning, but the officer, while nice, wasn't entertaining it. I signed the ticket. Then, before he walked away, I thought I would take a chance and ask him if he would change his mind if I told him my stepdad was a Lt with the police department. I pulled out my "daughter badge". His first reaction was funny since he hadn't seen one of these badges before, but in a matter of minutes we had Papa John on the phone and the officer let me go. Whew! Close call.

We arrived at the Keith's and Maya was able to play with Kaitlin, Claire, Ben and Joe. KC stopped by as well so we could catch up. Maya was so excited to see K and kept asking to play with her the entire ride up there! Why I have no pictures of this playdate I don't know....

We headed over to my friend Heather's house in McKinney. Maya was quite excited about staying with Brooke, who was turning 1 that day and having her 1st birthday party Saturday. The girls played nicely during the weekend and the party was alot of fun. Maya enjoyed playing with Brooke and all her toys - she even wanted to sit in the playpen with her!

Welcome Addison!

We welcomed our newest niece, Addison Lee Pringle. She is 7 lb, 7 oz and 20 in. I barely made it to the hospital and she was born about 15 minutes later! Amy did great and Addison is such a precious little girl. Maya was able to meet her little cousin that evening and just fell in love. She wanted to take her home! We can't wait to see how she reacts to her own baby brother. She is just so sweet to Addison and loves to give her kisses!

Visiting the greats

Charlie, Maya, Gigi and I took a short trip up to Corsicana to see Charlie's grandparents (Maya's greats). Maya and her Papaw cuddled and played with Dora and Boots. We stayed with the Taylor's (Amy's parents) and Maya was able to play with Maycie and even rode on her horse! We visited our cousin Jamie and Maya and he played with Sponge Bob together.

I'm not scared

Today Maya had double the fun in her pool. We started the morning out with Nani and Papa getting in the pool with Maya. We were able to conquer Maya's fear of the "boat". We have this inflatable pool boat that is actually a giraffe, but everytime I took it out, she would freak out. We were determined to get her in it. So I covered the giraffe's face with a towel. She asked us all to get in first - yeah right - but finally got in it. Once she did she said, "See mommy, I'm not scared." If I took off the towel though, she would freak out again.

That afternoon we had another pool party with one one of our SMA friends. Little Ava and her mom and aunt came over to play. Ava loved being in the pool! Maya and her didn't actually play together much, but we got some cute pictures of them. We enjoyed having Ava over to come play with Maya.

Video to compliment yesterday's post

I did NOT set her up to say this. She was happily painting while I was cooking and all of a sudden....

Drop a what?

Maya's cousins love telling Maya to say things and this has been going on for quite sometime. Her uncle Shawn isn't much different.  Now that Maya is a little sponge and not only retains what she hears, but she anunciates so much better, we could have some trouble. Last night at dinner, we thought Maya had a dirty diaper, so we asked her if she went potty. Her uncle Shawn thought it was appropriate to follow up with a question "Maya, did you drop a deuce?" Of which Hailey thought was hilarious and so she told Maya to say it. Maya says it loud and clear. Tonight during her bath, we were telling the story to Gigi and Maya said about 10 times, "drop a duece, drop a duece daddy, drop a deuce". Thanks Uncle Shawn...payback is coming in two years.
